With the goal of an even higher sustainability, I've made a few long-term changes to Softhauz's infrastructure:
SWITCH TO HELIOHOST WHILE IN-DEVELOPMENT: CAD$12/ANNUALLY, 97.16% REDUCTION IN YEARLY COST
- for the past year, Softhauz spent an average of CAD$105.60 quarterly for web hosting, for about a total of CAD$422.40 for the year of 2024, while being inactive due to my new academic endeavor that began in 2022. Last November 2024, I earned my Summa Cum Laude distinction upon finishing my Computer Science degree, as a complement to my software development diploma (honours distinction) from 2015. Now that this has been completed, it is just the right time not only to revamp and resume the development of Softhauz, but also to ensure that the resources and operational procedures are as cost-effective as they can be while doing so.
A MORE MODERN AND ROBUST BACKEND
- since Softhauz will have software applications that will incorporate artificial intelligence, it would only be sensible to switch from .Net to Python.
SWITCH FROM .CA TO .TECH
- simply because domain names matter — after exploring a more reflective domain for Softhauz, .TECH prevailed in terms of cost and brand preference.
As my mission is to create and deploy applications that are not necessarily driven by profit, my decisions come with the highest possible sustainability while Softhauz remains under construction.
